Kodály Musicianship Instructor

The National Children’s Chorus, America’s premier choral institution for youth, seeks Kodály trained instructors in Washington, D.C. to teach Kodály based musicianship classes of children with various ages and skill levels. 

 

Position Summary
The Kodály Instructor role is to provide excellent musicianship instruction within the NCC's Junior Division and Senior Divisions, facilitating a smooth and cohesive educational journey for students as they advance  through the ranks. The position requires a minimum of Levels 1 and 2 Kodály training, and demands excellence in lesson planning, time management, communication, and people skills. Working closely with the Associate Artistic Director, Director of Kodály Studies and the Associate Conductors is an integral part of this position.

 

Job Description:
  • Preparation and instruction of one to three class levels per week, on Sunday and/or Tuesday afternoons.
  • Kodály administration and basic classroom duties, including parent relations.
  • Adhere to and teach musical standards and concepts as defined by the National Children’s Chorus.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music.
  • Minimum two years Kodály classroom instruction.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Upbeat, creative personality.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills.

Associate Conductor

The National Children’s Chorus, America’s premier choral institution for youth, seeks a conductor in Washington, D.C. to lead ensembles of children with various ages and skill levels. To begin September 2017. 
 
Position Summary
The Associate Conductor role is to provide excellent choral direction within the NCC's Junior Division, facilitating a smooth and cohesive educational journey for students as they advance towards the Senior Division ranks. The position demands excellence in artistry, creativity, musical style, time management, communication, and people skills. Working closely with the Associate Artistic Director, as well as Kodály instructors, is an integral part of this position.
 
Job Description:

  • Choral administration and management duties, including parent relations, and selection of repertoire.
  • Preparation and leading of one rehearsal per week, on Tuesday and/or Sunday afternoons.
  • Selection, interpretation, and preparation of concert repertoire.
  • Two concerts per year (Fall and Spring).
  • Adhere to and teach musical standards and concepts as defined by the National Children’s Chorus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music.
  • Minimum two years conducting experience.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Upbeat, creative personality.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills.

Private Voice Instructor

The National Children’s Chorus, America’s premier choral institution for youth, seeks Private Voice Instructors in Washington, D.C. to coach children of various ages and skill levels. Multiple positions are available. To begin September 2017.
 
Position Summary
The Private Voice Instructor role is to provide excellent vocal instruction within the NCC's Junior Division and Senior Divisions. The position demands excellence in artistry, creativity, musical style, time management, communication, and people skills. Working closely with the Associate Artistic Director is an integral part of this position.
 
Job Description:

•   One-on-one private vocal instruction with students, one day per week on Sunday and/or Tuesday afternoons.
•   Strong piano skills required.
•   Adhere to and teach musical standards and concepts as defined by the National Children’s Chorus.

Requirements:

•   Bachelor’s degree in Music.
•   Minimum two years professional teaching experience.
•   Previous experience working with children.
•   Upbeat, creative personality.
•   High-level verbal and written communication skills.
